Chewy Cacao & Nut Bites

Ingredients

  • 100g cacao powder (the raw stuff is nutritionally richer, but either will do)
  • 100g ground almonds
  • 250g dates, pitted
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 handful of walnuts

Swap sugary shop bought sweets with these dense chewy energising bites.

Benefits

Raw cacao is the most nutrient-dense form of chocolate, providing an excellent source of magnesium (natures tranquiliser). Iron, and antioxidants. Nuts are a great source of vitamin E, magnesium, fibre, and protein.

Method

  • Add almonds, dates, syrup, cacao, and salt to a food processor and blend until it forms a dense dough.

  • Line 20cm square baking dish/ brownie tin with baking paper and press the dough until a smooth even surface. 

  • Store in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

  • Cut the brownies in even squares and top each with a walnut.
