Apples contain pectin, a soluble fibre that binds to and excretes toxins and excess hormones from the body, it also helps to maintain gut integrity. Cinnamon may help balance blood sugars, therefore excellent for weight management and hormone health.
Peel and dice apples.
In a saucepan melt the butter and add apples, syrup, cinnamon and approx 40 ml water, and stir.
Simmer on medium heat for 20 mins, then mash with side of a wooden spoon to form a compote.
Store in fridge and use within 1 week, or freeze in ice cube trays and use within 3 months.
